I am a descendant of the Koutecký, Franče, Zuska, Kraus and other families of Modřejovice. (Modřejovice was also referred to as Modřovice and Modrowitz.) This web page lists an abstract of the records that I have found, showing all people and houses in the village, sorted by house number and by name. House numbers with 0 have no number in the record entry in registers that do have house numbers. House numbers 999 are those from the early registers that did not specify a house number in the records. There are also some marriage records in which the age of the groom or bride is not given, and in those cases I enter an age of 999.

Note that the records may contain maiden names and names of relatives. At this point, I include only the person of the record and not others named in the record. For deaths of married women, the records give their married surname. I have standardized the variant spellings of names so they will sort together, which is also the reason that I have standardized on the Czech forms of the names. Czech diacritical marks are not included in the entries but are in the records. (So, you will see "Frantisek" and not Franciscus or Franz or František.) I plan a table of diacritically-marked surnames eventually. A few records specify a woman's maiden name or the name of the father of a non-marital child, and instances are created for both surnames so that these are duplicates in order to find the records by either surname.

• Record change from Latin to Czech
  In the Slabce 10 register's birth records, the transition happened on image 28 (page 26). The last baptismal entry in Latin was the 29 Jan 1829 baptism of Josephus Macák. The next baptism on 16 Feb 1829, that of Frantissek Eigenmeyer, was in Czech. A new priest began making the entries, in a different ink and a different handwriting. However the very next entry returns in the birth/baptism column to Latin while retaining Czech in the rest of the columns. However there is a lone 20 Jan 1831 birth record in German on image 32 (page 30). The birth/baptism date column finally changed from Latin to Czech on image 77 (page 75) where the 29 Aug 1849 date is in Latin, followed by the 19 Sep 1849 and all following entries in Czech.

• Village name change
  The last entry so far with the village name as Modřovice was the 16 May 1906 birth of Alois Vyskocil. The same priest made the first entry with the name as Modřejovice on the 13 June 1906 birth of Maria Lisner.

The following is based on historical information about Modřejovice sent to me by my cousin Bohuslav Koutecky in the Czech Republic.

After the Battle of White Mountain in November 1620, the 30-Years War continued until 1648. It was a European armed conflict known primarily as the culmination of disputes between followers of the Roman Catholic Church and supporters of Protestant denominations. Some areas in the Rakovník region were destroyed and burned several times. According to the behavior of the nobility to people, people often fled from the estate.

The owner in 1700 of Modřejovice was Jan Jiří Loubský, the governor of the Rakovník region, who was very cruel to his subjects. Many people fled his estate. The whole knights' residence of Modřejovice was almost deserted after the war.

The estate was bought from him by the Helversen family of Petrovice. In 1703, the owner of the Modřejovice estate, Albrecht of Helversen, settled the estate with people from Petrovice and other villages that they owned (Šanov, Petrovice, Zavidov, Senec, Hostokryje...). Among those who moved to Modřejovice was Jakub Koutecký, Andreas Pastor, and also in 1720 also Jakub, grandson of Tomas Koutecký from the farm in Šanov. In the land book of Šanov from 1688, it is written that Goerg Koutecký of Šanov sent shares of the family estate to Jakub in Modřejovice.
