Age 72, died in Appleton on May 7, 2002. He was born to the late George and Mary (Konkle) Subert, Sr. on December 5, 1929, in Kimberly. He retired in 1992 after spending 44 years employed as a pipefitter at the paper mill in Kimberly. Twenty years were spent as a volunteer fire fighter for the Village of Kimberly. Scoop was an avid sportsman who enjoyed spending much of his time hunting and fishing. He was well known as “the deer camp chef.” He took pride in teaching his children and grandchildren respect for the outdoors and life.

Scoop is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan, two sons: Thomas (Debra) Subert and their children Dawn and David, all of Winneconne; Steven (June) Subert and their children Amanda and Nicole, all of Combined Locks; 3 daughters: Donna (Richard) Uitenbroek and their children Brendan, Andrea, Tyler, Connor, and Melaina, all of Darboy; Patti (Thomas) Bednarski and children Brooke, Allison and Brian Balistierri, all of New Berlin; Wendy (Thomas) Ulrich and their children Alex and Carter, all of Appleton; one brother, George (Alice) Subert, Jr. of Kimberly, one sister, Shirley Lettau of Kimberly, and his father-in-law, Peter Dollevoet of Kimberly.

Scoop is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Marie Dollevoet; his brother-in-law, Robert Lettau; an infant granddaughter, Mary Ulrich; and very special friend, “Uncle” Frank Scheidermayer.

The Memorial Mass will be at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2002, at HOLY NAME OF JESUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Scoop will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

In leiu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Theda Clark Outpatient Rehabilitation, and the Fourth Floor Staff at Appleton Medical Center.

A final good bye to, “one of the last of the good guys.”
