Subert, George J.

George J. Subert, Kimberly age 79, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Monday, August 30, 2004. He was born in Lena on February 20, 1925, son of the late George Sr. and Mary (Konkle) Subert. George married Alice (Coenraad) Davidson at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly on August 17, 1963. He served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II and earned the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon and two Bronze Campaign Stars. George belonged to the William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion in Kimberly. George loved to visit casinos and travel with Alice around the United States and the World.

George is survived by his wife Alice; sister, Shirley Lettau; sisters-in-law: Joan Subert of Kimberly, Geraldine Fahrenkrug of Appleton, Josephine (Dale) Seefeld of Unity, WI, Wilma Weyenberg of Kimberly, Theresa (Roy) Vanden Heuvel of Appleton; brothers-in-law: Marty (Joan) Conrad of Kimberly and Chris (Janie) Coenraad of Menasha; he is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Joseph “Scoop” Subert.

The funeral liturgy will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2004, at HOLY NAME OF JESUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Appleton Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, with military service honors provided by the William Verhagen Post #60 of the American Legion.

The family extends a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Appleton Medical Center for their outstanding care.
