Elizabeth Butson's Birth and Baptism circa 1607

Overview

Elizabeth BARTOWE was buried, per Ancestry.com's "Devon and Cornwall: - Wills and Administrations proved in the Bishop of Exeter, 1559-1799" collection at Awliscombe, Devon in 1686.

Elizabeth BUTSON married Peter BARTOW 10 Oct 1628 in Devon, per several online trees although none of them give a source or any other evidence to support the date and place. FindMyPast has no such marriage, having only a 4 Nov 1622 marriage at Uffculme in Devon of Samuel BISHOPPE and Elizabeth BUTSON. Such a specific date clearly means that someone found some record on that 16 Oct 1628 date, but so far I have not been able to find that record.

Finding her baptismal record is even more of a challenge. If she did marry in 1628, then 1607 is a good rough estimate of her birth year. Some trees on Ancestry.com connect her to a 9 Feb 1607 baptism at Holt in Norfolk ( https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/61045/images/4143536_01490 ). Not only is that too far away from Devon to be credible, but the surname is clearly NOT BUTSON. So, the 9 Feb 1607 Norfolk baptismal record has NO relevance to the Devon Elizabeth (BUTSON) BARTOW.

Thus far, I have yet to find any solid documentation of Elizabeth BUTSON's marriage or baptism.
