This note is very much a work in progress. I am still tracking down all these many branches.
This is a research note to bring together the several different branches of the Butson family tree that lived at one time or another in North Dakota. As far as I know, there are no longer any living relatives there, but I am not certain of that.
Descendants of Solomon Butson and Jane Keam (Cornwall to Canada)
- Son Henry's daughter Mary Jane Butson (1853-1899) - buried at Leeds, ND - Benson County
- Son John's daughter Maria Butson (1860-1944) - lived near Leeds, ND - Benson County - wife of James Golding, buried at Everett, Washington
- Son John's son Solomon Butson (1856-1925) - Traill County - arrived in US Apr 1880 at Port Huron, MI - purchased half section in Traill County 23 Jun 1880 - 7 Apr 1902 elected Hillsboro 2nd Ward Alderman - buried at Hillsboro Cemetery
- Son John's daughter Mary Jane Butson (1853-c1882) - probably buried near Grandin, ND - Traill County - wife of Joseph Hoggarth
- Son William's son David Butson (1858-1928) - at Pleasant Valley Twp, Rolette County - first arrived 1889 or 1890 and lived in Duluth, MN 1895 - Pleasant Valley Twp (1900) - Beckenham, Saskatchewan (1906) - Pleasant Valley Twp (1910) - near Wolford in Pierce County (24 Sep 1918 - first papers at Rolla in Rolette County) - Pleasant Valley Twp (1920) - returned to Canada at Emerson, Manitoba (1924) - died 18 Sep 1928 in Winnipeg (resident of Swan River)
-Son William's son John Butson (1862-1931) - at Pleasant Valley Twp, Rolette County - arrived US Apr 1881 at Buffalo, NY - moved to Saskatchewan c 1904 - died 1931 Meaford, Ontario
Children of James Butson (c 1824 Oakford, Devon -1901 Bolton, Lancashire)
The last three of these (Hannah, Harry, and Sylvia) are covered in a 2012 book by Becky Kincade, descendant of Harry.
