Margaret Beattie was born in Ireland in 1781. She and her husband, Nicholas Johnston, immigrated to Mountain Twp., Ontario prior to 1828. At least one of her children was born in Canada. After being widowed in 1861, she lived for a while in the Johnston community at Black Creek (between Hainsville and Dixon's Corners). She died on November 12, 1877 and is interred near Inkerman.
