To His Excellency Frances Gore Esquire, Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Upper Canada in Council.
The Petition of Christopher Lake of the Township of Ernest Town in the Midland District Yeoman
Humbly Sheweth
That your Petitioner and family have constantly resided in this Province since the year 1795, That your Petitioner served in the Burgoyne Campaign in the year 1777 and was taken prisoner a few days before the Convention at Saratoga, That your Petitioners distressed Circumstances prevented him from coming into this province at an Earlier period, That your Petitioners family consists of Seven Children, the youngest 2 now being of the Age of Sixteen Years Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays your Excellency would be pleased to grant him the additional Quantity of Lands as a Military Claimant with his family lands.

And your Petitioner begs leave to state to your Excellency that he heretofore Petitioned for his family Lands and were not granted for want of Proof of his family Your petitioner therefore prays that his former Petition may be Revised and that his family Lands and the additional Land as a Military Claimant may be granted him.

Be it remembered that on the Fifteenth day of October in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Six personally came and appeared before us Richard Cartwright Alexander Fisher Thomas Markland and Archibald MacDonnell Esquires.
His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the Midland District in Quarter Sessions assembled Christopher Lake of the Township of Ernest Town Yeoman who being duly Sworn upon the Holy Evangelists maketh oath and saith that he came to the Province of Upper Canada previous to the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Eight and hath resided therein ever since.
