Amelia Jane Nicholls 1863 Birth

Free BMD shows Amelia Jane Nicholls born in the January-March 1863 quarter in the St. Austell registration district. In 1862 when her parents, John Nicholls and Ann Hugoe, married, they both resided in Middleway in St. Blazey parish, which was in the St. Austell civil registration district. So I suspect that the child was born in Middleway, and I am carrying her with that birthplace.

However, she was not baptized in St. Blazey, and no baptism is found for her within the current state of the database of the Cornwall Online Parish Clerks. So I suspect that she was not baptized before the family emigrated to Australia, where her sister Eveleena was born in 1867.

There is one other record that gives a birthplace for her. The 1880 United States Census of Eureka Mills, California, has her birthplace as Australia. But this must be an error, since the civil registration in Cornwall does place her birth there.
