The John Henwoods in the Roger & Elizabeth Henwood FamilyResearch Note for the St. Blazey Families Project by Wesley Johnston (last updated 17 Sep 2012)

Roger and Elizabeth (Hender) Henwood appear in different records with apparent sons named John, born 1827, 1837, and 1845. This is my understanding and speculation about these differences.

1827 John

The St. Blazey parish registers have their son John baptized 25 Feb 1827.

1837 John

The 1841 census of St. Andrew's, Plymouth, Devon shows Roger and Elizabeth and daughter Mary, all with ages rounded to the nearest 5th year. There is also a John, age 4. I cannot find any birth record for such a John. I suspect that this was an error in that the 4 should have been a 14, so that this was really the 1827 John.

1845 John

The 1851 census and the 1855 passneger list to New Zealand show a son John. He is age 5 in the 1851 census. I have not seen the actual passenger list record. It is my understanding that this John was actually their grandson, the base child of their daughter Mary Ann Raymond Henwood, who died 14 days after he was born. Her parents then raised him as their own son.
