Albert Boezel's birth was reported correctly in 1879 but was for some reason reported again in 1880, giving his birthdate as 28 Mar in both reports. Boezel, Martha-Birth (Grand Rapids, Kent County)-1877-02-25
second entry on page - born 25 Feb 1877 - Martha Boezel - white - born First Ward Grand Rapids - parents John Boezel, carpenter, and Grietje Boezel, both residing First Ward Grand Rapids - recorded 27 May 1878 - This is the official full transcript register that was hand-copied from the original county and sent to the State of Michigan. The date recorded is the date that the copy was made. -+-+-+- Her birth was recorded in both Ottawa and Kent Counties. I believe that she was born in Holland (Ottawa County) since all prior family events are there and that the family moved very soon to Grand Rapids (Kent County) where immediate subsequent family events show them. This is further supported by her having no given name in the Holland record but having the given name Martha in the Grand Rapids record.

Burglary of Office of Patrick T. McElherne - Chicago Tribune - Tuesday 5 Nov 1889, p 6 - detail
BROKE INTO A LAWYER'S OFFICE. / Some time between Saturday night and Monday morning thieves broke into McElherne & Mayer's law office at No. 79 South Clark street. In P. T. McElherne's private room every drawer in the desk was ransacked and every article in the bookcase examined, but nothing was taken. From the main officeroom, they carried away a suit of clothes, etc. In Saturday morning's papers Mr. McElherne announced his intention to proceed against the men who attempted to corrupt the primaries in the Tenth War, and it was stated that he had in his possession documentary evidence sufficient to convict. It is thought that the plan may have been to secure these papers.
