Confirmation of Wilhelmine Gelis 1861 First Immanuel Lutheran Church record of 1861 confirmations - line 33 (second from bottom) is Wilhelmine Dorothea Gelis (she apparently took Dorothea as her confirmation name). Her chosen Bible verse was Eph 3,19 (Epheser in German, Ephesians in English). In the 1545 Luther Bible, this verse is "auch erkennen die Liebe Christi, die doch alle Erkenntnis übertrifft, auf daß ihr erfüllt werdet mit allerlei Gottesfülle." The New International Version gives this English version: "and to know this love [of Christ] that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." | ||
