Wendell Mueller -- Gilman
Visitation for Wendell Richard Mueller, 80, of rural Gilman, will be from noon Friday until the 1:30 p.m. services at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gilman. Pastor Pete Hinrich and Rev. Gary Menard will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Crescent City. Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry or to the donor's choice. He died Monday (Nov. 26, 2007) at the Gilman Nursing Center. Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mueller was a farmer for 39 years. He had also been drainage commissioner. He was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Ash Grove Township, Iroquois County, the son of J. Albert and Myrtle Kuhlman Mueller. His wife, the former Irma M. Wessels, whom he married Feb. 27, 1949, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Crescent City, died April 23, 2004. His childhood was spent in rural Woodworth, Sheldon and Watseka. He attended rural Woodworth school. He was a merchant mariner, serving during World War II and during the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Gilman and active on the church council. He enjoyed farming.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Lyal A. and Debbie Mueller of Gilman, Neal D. and Linda Mueller of Bend, Ore., Bruce D. and Amanda Mueller of Palatine; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; and one brother, Vernon Mueller of Alamogordo, N.M.
