Edwin and Robert Burdge - Grave Stone - now in cairn at Groveside Cemetery
Whitby Archivist Brian Winter told Wesley Johnston (28 Sep 2012) that the stones in the cairn at Groveside Cemetery are NOT for people buried at Groveside. A man gathered the stones from local cemeteries. It is most likely that the stone came from the Episcopal Methodist Cemetery at the corner of Church & Albert St in Brooklin. This cemetery was founded abt 1847. In 1884, when the EM, Wesleyan Methodist and Bible Christian churches joined, the EM cemetery was abandoned. == photograph 26 Sep 2012 by Wesley Johnston
